Jungle Hotel is a famous name & landmark place in Ulhasnagar 4. It is located perfectly at the centre of Camp 4 of Ulhasnagar as all other places are equally distanced from this spot. One can reach Jungle Hotel by Rickshaw from Ulhasnagar Railway station (around 2 Km away). Jungle Hotel is a flat spot after the upward incline from the Railway station road and it leads to Satramdas Hospital road on the downward slope.
The location ‘Jungle Hotel’ got its name from the popular Tea shop named Jungle Hotel.
The popular tea shop that was first opened around 1972, in Ulhasnagar 4 was operated by two partners Mr. Chawla’s. People would flock around for their early morning tea, bread, Khar biscuit, Tosh (rusk), Pav etc. Other staples like Eggs, Milk, Coffee, Cold drinks & even Cigarettes were available. It used to be the point of meeting for many locals.
The Technique used for making the tea was as per the English tradition where tea and milk were boiled separately. The pronounced flavors of the strongly boiled tea kept the patrons loyal to the tea shop for decades. Later, the recipe was altered and the tea was made by boiling a blend of tea leaves powder, milk, spices like Ginger (Adrak) & Green Cardamom (Elaichi) and Sugar
Eventually the shop was renamed as Prabhat Tea & General Store, by the successors of Shri Nanikram Chawla & it was operational till the year 2023. Because of changing business models and financial pressure they were forced to close the Jungle Hotel Shop. Jungle Hotel is no longer operational but the place is still known as Jungle Hotel. Jungle Hotel name has crossed 50 years as a landmark place in Ulhasnagar.
