TYBA marksheets from Saturday Payal Gwalani | TNN | Jul 16, 2010, 03.46 AM IST MUMBAI: The results of BEd and third-year BA exams held by the University of Mumbai were declared on Monday and Wednesday. While the pass percentage for BEd was 84.19, that of TYBA was 75.12. Yamini Bellare, a psychology student from Sophia College, topped TYBA with 87%, while the second spot was secured by Garima Nirula from St Xavier's College, who scored 86.5%. Nisha Ahuja from RKT, Ulhasnagar, stood third with 86.33%. BEd marksheets will be sent to colleges on Friday, while the scores for TYBA will be available from colleges from Saturday. The results can also be checked on www.mu.ac.in.

42000 pirated discs seized in Mumbai Gujarat IndiaGlitz [Saturday, July 10, 2010] Alliance Against Copyright Theft (AACT) continues its efforts to curb and eradicate piracy. After the launching its new toll-free number 1800 103 1919, AACT along with various enforcement agencies and local police has conducted raids across Mumbai and Gujarat seizing close to 42,000 pirated discs estimated to be worth more than Rs 4.2 million. In one of the biggest raids conducted by a joint team from AA Khan and Associates along with team led by PI Waagh from Rabodi Police station raided a warehouse near Hakkani Masjid, during which, close to 23,500 discs were seized with more than 2000 DVDs of ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ along with movies like ‘Rajneeti’, ‘Raavan’, ‘Housefull’ and ‘Krantiveer’. Bansi from Shivaji Chowk in Ulhasnagar is suspected involved in the pirated discs seized. The police have arrested his aid Yusuf Abdullah Shaikh during the raid. In other joint raids conducted across Mumbai by enforcement agencies and local Police – - 5500 pirated discs were seized near Andheri Station (West) - Three raids were conducted near Bandra Talao including a raid on a small warehouse near a Pan Bakda (stall) where a total of 2270 pirated DVDs of ‘Toy Story 3’, ‘Rajneeti’, ‘Kites’, etc were seized - A raid in Pali Naka in Khar uncovered about 1350 pirated DVDs of ‘Toy Story 3’, ‘Harry Potter 7’ along with ‘Ravaan’ and ‘Rajneeti’ - Another raid conducted near Andheri Station fetched the team about 3000 DVDs of the latest Hollywood & Bollywood releases - Under the jurisdiction of Santacruz Police, a joint team conducted a raid against a pirated discs stall vendor where they seized a total of 1160 DVDs near Royal Hotel on Juhu Tara Road - The Nagpada police conducted a raid led by PSI Kishor Karat seizing more than 1000 pirated discs - A raid in Kurla uncovered close to 400 pirated discs In a joint operation by Ahmadabad Crime Branch conducted at Godasar, CTM, the team raided the private premises where newly released DVDs were being duplicated. The police arrested one person and seized 1+11 four DVD writers, (44 DVD writer) 300 blanks, 700 DVD’s including prints of movies like ‘Raavan’, ‘Rajneeti’, ‘Kites’. AACT has been ensuring that effective action is being taken across the country to generate awareness on piracy and also curb it at the grass root level.

Mystery shrouds woman-daughter's death Kanika Rajani | TNN | Jul 9, 2010, 02.44 AM IST MUMBAI: The Kurla GRP is probing whether the deaths of a mother-daughter duo on the tracks between Ghatkopar and Vidyavihar stations on Saturday was a suicide or accident. The deceased, Harsha Roopchandani (38) and Simran (13), hail from an affluent business family in Ulhasnagar. The two left home on Saturday afternoon to meet Harsha's college friend who stays at Ghatkopar, the police said. The GRP recorded the statement of Harsha's husband, Shankarlal, on Thursday. Shankarlal, a developer, said there was no tension in the family. The police learnt about the bodies after a passersby alerted them. The bodies were found 15 feet away from each other, with head injuries and no identification on them. The only clue was Simran's school uniform.

During the operation close to 23,500 discs were seized with more than 2000 DVDs of Imran Khan – Sonam Kapoor starrer ‘I hate Luv Storys’ along with movies like Rajneeti, Raavan, Housefull, Krantiveer were seized. The team suspects that Bansi from Shivaji Chowk in Ulhasnagar is involved in the pirated discs seized. He is also suspected to be one of the biggest movie pirates since the era of video cassette piracy. The police have arrested his aid Yusuf Abdullah Shaikh during the raid. These constant raids is to make the pirates understand the menace of their offense and its consequences” AACT has been ensuring that effective action is being taken across the country to generate awareness on piracy and also curb it at the grass root level.
